“Those who can ask without shame are viewing themselves in collaboration with—rather than in competition with—the world… asking for help with gratitude says: We have the power to help each other.” ~Amanda Palmer

It’s hard to ask for help.

Anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, overwhelm, confusion, conflict, and change are frightening forces to contend with.

There’s no reason to go it alone.

That said, it’s important to choose a counselor who is a good fit for you.

I’m compassionate and disciplined, and I also break some rules.

I tend to use adult language (if you cringe at the sound of the f-word, I’m probably not the best fit for you). I appreciate humor and authentic connection (I’m not going to look down my clinical nose at you). I integrate mind, body AND spirit. I draw from multiple theoretical perspectives and employ a variety of therapeutic techniques. I trust my intuition (and yours!)

I establish collaborative, nurturing, and genuine relationships that set the foundation for the counseling process.

I help clients identify and address root sources of life’s challenges. I take a strengths-based approach to developing practical skills and strategies to overcome personal obstacles.

Counseling should be healing and meaningful. Sessions may be nurturing, enlightening, and (yes!) even fun. But if you want to make real progress,

Expect to trudge through some muck.

Examining painful experiences or uncomfortable feelings is tough. It’s scary to be vulnerable! But in order for therapy to be effective, you must be willing to be honest and do the work.

I always tell people, “the only way out is through.”

I’m passionate about supporting women of all ages, from adolescents to elders (and I love providing opportunities for intergenerational interaction).

I mesh well with anyone (of any gender) who has ever felt like an outcast, a misfit, an underdog, isolated, anxious, depressed, mistreated, misunderstood or misrepresented.

I appreciate non-conformity and those who bravely defy imposed expectations. I’m inspired by seekers and those interested in exploring the mysterious depths of consciousness and being.
